Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear, Inc. awarded grant funding for Diabetes Prevention Program in Onslow County

Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear is excited to receive a grant from the Onslow Caring Communities Foundation, an affiliate of the NC Community Foundation, to support a CDC-recognized Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) offered in Onslow County. The evidence based DPP classes are provided to residents with prediabetes, a condition that affects approximately 96 million U.S. adults (1 in 3) with 80% of those affected unaware they have it. Grant funding will allow the Onslow community access to diabetes prevention classes at no cost for adults at high risk of developing diabetes. Led by certified lifestyle coaches, participants focus on achieving modest weight loss and exercise goals. For more information about enrolling in the program, please contact Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear at 910-763-0200.
