Investing in health-related social needs strengthens both community health and local economies.
A new IMPLAN analysis of North Carolina’s Healthy Opportunities Pilot (HOP) found that:
- $247M invested generated $384M in total business activity
- Over 2,900 jobs were supported across North Carolina
- More than $125M in wages and labor income were generated
- Every service dollar invested created an additional $0.55 in economic activity
In the Cape Fear region, we’ve seen firsthand how investments in food, housing, and transportation supports create healthier families while strengthening local businesses and the economy. At CCLCF, we know that health is wealth—and sustainable community health starts by addressing the barriers people face every day outside the doctor’s office.
